Glamorgan was once a full county of Wales but was disbanded in 1996 but retains its ceremonial title. The regions within it are still often known by their previous names, and this applies too for Mid Glamorgan.
Mid Glamorgan includes the well-known mining town Merthyr Tydfyll. Indeed, much of this area’s history is closely tied with its mining roots. Rhondda is another mining town of the region.
Beyond mining history, Mid Glamorgan also has some other interesting historical attractions. It is here you can find the Baked Bean Museum of Excellence for example!
