Hastings is a place of smiles and seaside memories. This East Sussex coastal town, however, has an incredible history or smuggling, fishing and other maritime experience. Wander the old lanes and alleys of the Old Town, and with its vintage boutiques and cafes, it is like stepping back in time.
Hastings also has a reputation as a gathering of creative minds. You’ll find an abundance of tiny independent art galleries, each unique, but often showcasing work pulling on the fishing village feel of this old town.
Of course, famous to many as the site of the 1066 battle, there is a fair amount of Norman history to discover here. However, you’ll also notice the Victorian feel, particularly with the pier, building facades, and of course the East Hill Cliff funicular railway.
