Covering 493 square miles, Greater Manchester is a metropolitan county made up of ten districts including the likes of Bolton, Oldham, Stockport and Trafford. The population here is not quite 3 million.
Much of the area is characterised by urban and suburban areas, but Greater Manchester does also extend out towards some of the outlying villages.
Being an important economic area in the North West, Greater Manchester has a distinct business culture not dissimilar to London. However, it also retains its own feel and Mancunians, from Greater Manchester, are rightly proud of their roots.
