Berkshire is, in many ways, the Royal County. Not only is it home to the majestic Windsor Castle (and an alternative spot to watch the Changing of the Guard), it’s also the birthplace of Kate Middleton.
However, it’s part of the character of Berkshire that it is also on London’s doorstep. Much of the county is a commuter belt, but this benefits the county in terms of wealth. It’s a step away from the city with plenty of countryside to explore.
There are many formal gardens within Berkshire, but there are also other distinctive places worth visiting. The larger towns of Reading, Maidenhead, Bracknell and Newbury have various events, including of course Newbury Racecourse. Berkshire is also the home of Legoland.
