Sweeping along the channel coast, Eastbourne also benefits from the impressive South Downs countryside. Very much a classic Victorian seaside resort, you can hunt down the 1930s bandstand and 19th century Eastbourne Pier which both lend historic character to the town.
In fact, Eastbourne has some interesting places to visit, whatever your interests. For modern art lovers you should go to the Towner Art Gallery where there is an impressive range of works. But also worth exploring is the Redoubt Fortress which houses a remarkable military museum. Within very close distance are the striking ‘white cliffs’ with infamous beauty spot Beachy Head.
